Carche, founded by sisters Carlie and Chelsea, is a small up and coming business that focuses on creating quality goods. Carche offers three services. The first of them are home baked goods. Their next focus is on creating and customizing goods using arts and crafts. Finally, their last service, upcycling, offers reusing or updating common household items, clothes, and more. This project was designed at my time in the Emerging Media Masters program at the University of Georgia.
In order to understand Carche’s needs as a business, I met with my client partner to better understand her needs for the website. Through our discovery call, we established that the type of website needed was that of an e-commerce store.
Because Carche was in its inception, my client partner did not seek to separate her many services to their own ecommerce site. Instead, she sought to showcase all products in one location. Knowing that each product offered was unique and could vary, my client-partner wanted the ability to update photos easily once the item was bought.
Going into the project, I had to keep in mind that my client partner insisted on a single scroll site divided in each section for each service. She also required that each page of each section could have a page number at the bottom that would lead to different pages if needed. Additionally, my client partner wanted to give customers the ability to customize their orders if they wanted to as well as place ready made orders directly from the site.
The overall design process of Carche incorporated logo and icon creation, color palette and typography, as well as graphic and photo elements which were all incorporated within their own style guide. I heeded the clients request for a 90s feel with geometric shapes and polaroids throughout the design. See my final design below showcased for web, tablet, and mobile interface.
